Unika Auction 2023

The 8th-10th of September, thirty leading Norwegian designers showcased new works that had never been shown before. The exhibition was a part of Oslo's leading design event, Designer's Saturday, and shown at the historical site of Bankplassen 4.

Curated by Fold Oslo, the exhibition showed a variety of objects, from glassware to one-of-a-kind woven wall pieces. Included in this exhibition was our new stools; Preg D18 & Preg D19. The stools are the newest addition to the series Preg, where traditional ornamentation has been analysed and renewed, then implemented in the objects.

The square-ness of the stool is contrasting the organic ornaments. Geometrical shapes like the square, circle and octagon is used to create dynamics. With its two backs, the stool can be placed in a corner as well as in a free space. This allows the stool to be experienced differently according to the angle it’s viewed from.

The stretchers has a geometrical form that shoots through two of the chair legs. These provide constructive strength, whilst functioning as an element of decor. The end grain is embossed with a pin-thin steel, enhancing the overall shape. Preg D19 differs from D18 with its leather seat, and are with its relief an example of the use of ornamentation in different materials.

The stools are made in Oslo by Løvetann Studio, Thomas Gjertsen.

The exhibition is now moving on to the reknown Norwegian auctioners Blomqvist for the next two weeks, where it can be viewed and each item can be bid on. The auction is also available online and ends at September the 24th.
